Yale College Librarian gains Masters Achievement

Yale College Librarian, Maria Lewis, who is a Member of the British Psychological Society has gained a Masters in Information and Library Management.

Impressed by Maria’s achievements, Yale College have embraced her knowledge in e-safety as she becomes Child Exploitation and Online Protection Agency Ambassador (CEOP) for the College. Maria leads E-Safety drop-in sessions in Yale’s Learning & Resource Centre offering valuable advice and guidance to students and staff colleagues.

“Maria’s attention to detail and willingness to share her expertise is a great inspiration to staff and students,” says Yale College Principal, Dhesi.

Providing Yale College students with first class support, Maria’s Masters level achievements have given her in-depth knowledge in website coding, management, library classifications, project management and research. Recognising challenges of work-life balance, Maria is keen to acknowledge the generous encouragement and support received from husband Kelvin and sons Tim and Calum as well as work colleagues during her studies, especially when her Mum passed away shortly before she completed her course.

“I had to finish what I started for Mum,” smiles determined Maria, “I have really appreciated everyone’s support, especially Kelvin who kept me going.”

Maria started Yale College as a library assistant in 1999 with a degree in psychology. Advocate for lifelong learning she has enjoyed studying alongside her work. Committed student Maria now continues her studies for ILM Level 5 in Leadership & Management at Yale College.
