A science discovery centre in Wrexham is looking to create three new exhibits.

Xplore! – based in the old TJ Hughes building on Henblas Street in the city centre – was recently awarded funding via the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.

North Wales Science Ltd which runs the centre has now put out a tender bid worth £120,000 for contractors to help create the new exhibits.

Information to interested parties states: “New exhibits are needed to stay current and competitive and meet the needs of our visitors.

“Xplore! has secured Shared Prosperity Fund investment from the UK Government that enables us to enhance our visitor experience.

“Xplore! has an existing exhibition that will be improved with these three new permanent exhibits.

“The wider funding will also enable Xplore! (via separate pieces of work) to carry out market research and feasibility studies relating to future utilization of the first-floor of the science centre.”

The scope of the contract includes the design, manufacture, supply and installation of three new permanent science exhibits.

It also require the successful contractor to deliver staff training in the correct use of the exhibits, as well as providing a one-year guarantee and maintenance contract for them.

It’s expected the new exhibits will be installed in September 2024, although the tender notes there is scope to move this date back as far as December 2024 at the very latest.
