Bangor-On-Dee Racecourse was a sea of bright colours this morning as crowds gathered to take part in Wrexham’s first Rainbow Run.

Around a thousand people took part in the event at Bangor-On-Dee this morning which saw runners, joggers and walkers complete a 4k race in aid of Nightingale House Hospice.

In recent years, Rainbow / Colour runs have become a fixture across the UK; however today’s event was the first of its kind to be hosted in Wrexham.

The event itself kicked off with a pre-race Zumba session, followed by entertainment by local musical duo – Click 22.

Participants were also invited to join in a mass paint throw session at the start line, resulting in a cloud of coloured fog hovering over the track.

Over the course of the 4k participants were covered in paint by more than willing volunteers, with a variety of pastel colours being thrown and released through a fire extinguisher at the crowds.

At the end of the race Bangor-One-Dee was a sea of colours and all those involved were left in brilliant spirits. Runners were also treated to a complimentary bacon sandwich at the end of the race!
