Wrexham’s branch of Bank Fashion has closed its doors for the final time.

The fashion retailer, which was located on Eagles Meadow closed earlier this week – with a further 19 stores across the country also listed for closure this month.

Bank went into administration in January 2014, six weeks after the chain was sold to a subsidiary of Hilco, a specialist retail investor. The store operated 84 stores across the UK and employed around 1,555 staff.

Last month the Eagles Meadow store was announced as one of 20 outlets across the country that was to close in March. The retailers Chester branch was also listed for closure this month.

The remaining 64 stores across the country and the website will continue operating.

In a statement released in January 2015, Deloitte partner and joint administrator Bill Dawson said: “Bank has struggled in a highly competitive segment of the retail industry and has been loss-making for a number of years.

“A review of the business has determined that a solvent turnaround would not be possible and so its director has sought the appointment of Joint Administrators.

“The company has already been approached by several parties who have expressed an interest in the business and the Administrators are trading as a going concern with a view to progressing these options and seeking further interested parties for some or all of the business.”
