First aid volunteers from Wrexham will be hosting an open day this weekend to show people how they could save a life in an emergency situation.

The open day, which takes place on Yale Business Park on Saturday 1st June, will offer the opportunity to break the stigma of administering first aid as well as fun activities for all the family to get involved.

First aid demonstrations will be taking place throughout the day where volunteers will demonstrate potentially lifesaving skills such as how to help someone who is choking, how to correctly put a casualty in the recovery position and how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

There will also be a whole host of other activities including face painting, a bouncy castle, and games. Food will also be available.

Bertie the Badger, Badgers mascot for Wales’ leading first aid charity St John Cymru, will also be at the event.

Amy Hughes, St John Cymru Wrexham operational volunteer said: “We’re really excited to be able to offer this fantastic opportunity to people in our local community.

“We believe no one should die because they didn’t get first aid when they needed it.

“We’re hoping our open day will provide people with a fun and friendly atmosphere where they can learn potentially lifesaving first aid skills in a relaxed and encouraging environment,” she added.

The open day will be a great opportunity for the public to come and see what St John Cymru volunteers do day-to-day at events and in communities across Wales.
