A petition calling for the Wrexham to Birmingham rail link to be saved is gathering speed as over 400 have already signed to show their support.

Arriva Trains Wales are proposing to axe the service from May which has brought criticism from across the region.

Politicians and members of the public have now joined together to voice their dissatisfaction at the proposals, with an appeal for those who wish to maintain the service to join in.

Councillor David A Bithell, Lead Member for the Environment and Public Protection said: “This is a very important rail link for Wrexham commuters and I am very pleased that the petition to reverse the proposal is receiving cross party support.

“If you haven’t already signed it please make every attempt to sign it as soon as possible.”
