Police in Wrexham are urging residents to be vigilant and to take sensible precautions following a second spate of burglaries in less than a fortnight.

Homes left insecure during the warm weather are being targeted by opportunist thieves and criminals intent on stealing the keys of high performance vehicles.

The latest offences took place in Fenwick Drive, Park Avenue, Broom Grove (above) and Rhostyllen – plus possibly Ruabon going off a tweet this afternoon to @wrexham

Last week several were reported in and around Wrexham, Bryn Estyn Road, Wyndham Gardens, Chestnut Avenue, Cefndre, Colwyn Road, Mile Barn Road and Ruabon Road. Last week a van was stolen after a break in at a property in Garden Village.

Sgt Claire McGrady said: “This is a continued appeal for the public to ensure that doors and windows, particularly on the ground floor, are kept closed and that residents ensure that access points are properly locked even you are in the garden.

“Never keep large amounts of cash on the premises. Keep laptops and cash out of sight and put car keys put away and not near the front door or a place where they can be easily found.

“If you are away on holiday and you want to share your experiences on social networks, please be mindful as you are telling people your home is empty. If you have a burglar alarm, please use it.”

The latest burglaries follow similar offences in the Rhosnesni , Caia Park and Ruabon areas at the end of June.
