Wrexham town centre has been voted the second best place in north Wales to visit according to new TripAdvisor findings.

The town’s rankings on marmite gargantuan review website TripAdvisor was revealed in yesterday’s Town Centre Forum by Destination Manager from Wrexham County Borough Council, Joe Bickerton.

At yesterday’s meeting Joe stated he had received an email from TripAdvisor highlighting Wrexham’s position as number two in north Wales.

Speaking after the meeting, Joe told us: “It was great news to find that Wrexham Town Centre was ranked as the second best town to visit in North Wales at the weekend. This follows on from the terrific news about the Lonely Planet 2017 Guide ranking North Wales as a whole as the 4th ‘must see’ place to visit in the World, alongside some iconic destinations.

“It’s been a positive year again for local tourism in Wrexham with the value of visitor spending topping £111m – further strengthening our local economy and filling hotel beds. We can’t achieve this though without a positive welcome and great service in our accommodation, attractions and restaurants / cafes – so this TripAdvisor ranking really underlines the fantastic welcome that is on offer in Wrexham.

“What has been most pleasing is that businesses are investing in the quality of their welcome and it’s reflected in the business that they are attracting.

“We have also had a couple of years now where events around town have played their part in attracting more visitors, from the relatively small street festivals, through to larger events like FOCUS Wales, ComicCon and the Stereophonics at the Racecourse this summer.”

“With a new Destination Management Action Plan being drafted for 2017-20 to build on the growth over the last 5-years, Wrexham County as a whole is taking on a whole new dimension as a quality place to visit or stay.

“There’s an offer for everyone – be it a business traveller, day tripper, coach party or those looking for a weekend getaway.”

It was pointed out by King Street Coffee that some images on TripAdvisor need a tart up as some are old or out of date and for those searching the town and area online could have a better view of the area.
