Work to improve parts of Wrexham General station are set to begin today.

Previous improvement work on the network has seen deep cleaning, the rebranding of shelters and station furniture, the relining of car park bays, repainting and renewing stair nosings, and cutting back overgrown vegetation.

Today will see a range of works begin, including:

  • Additional seating on Platform 4
  • Renewed station signage
  • Enhanced lighting
  • Additional cycle parking
  • More recycling facilities
  • Refurbished and extended waiting room
  • Toilet refurbishments
  • New Changing places facility

Cllr David A Bithell Lead Member Environment and Transport at Wrexham Council called it a “welcome investment at Wrexham General Station which is an important transport link and new improved facilities including recycling and cycle parking are welcomed”.

Previously Ken Skates, Minister for Economy, Transport and North Wales, had said “This is another example of our commitment to improving transport in North Wales. Train stations are gateways to communities and the Station Improvement Vision will help ensure passengers have a positive experience when using our rail network.”
