Wrexham fans have organised a fundraising auction night to support one of the clubs biggest and vociferous fans.

On March 22nd a charity auction will be held to raise funds for  Jacko, a Wrexham FC fan who is currently fighting throat cancer.

The auction will consist mainly of sporting memorabilia and funds raised will benefit both Jacko and Macmillan Cancer Support. The event has received support from the whole community including fans, local business and also national business.

The idea behind the event came from organiser Stu Roberts’ 10-year-old daughter Megan, who compiled a list of fundraising events to help raise money for Jacko.

Stu Roberts said: “ Due to having to give up work we knew that he would be short of cash until he beats the cancer, and we wanted to help. Over the next few days Megan compiled a list of fundraising events that she wanted to arrange. So far she has arranged a cake sale at Ysgol Bryn Collen and raised just shy of eighty pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support. She has also run three and a half kilometres around the Wrexham FC pitch. Sponsorship and donations are still coming in for this event but she has topped the one thousand pound mark. This money has helped Jacko to pay bills and keep his bank charges to a minimum; as well as allowing him to keep in contact with his son on a regular basis.

“Chemotherapy and radiotherapy have both taken their toll on Jacko but he feels safe in the knowledge that Macmillan nurses are there to help. Jacko has stated that he wants to support the charity in any way he can and when fit to do so; will do his own fundraising for Macmillan to repay any money received from the events.

“The support we have received so far has been phenomenal and highlights the importance of Wrexham FC as a community club. With this in mind, we would like to invite you to get involved with our fundraising. This could be something as simple as providing a raffle prize for our event or supporting us with a financial sponsorship.”

The auction will take place at 6pm on Saturday March 22nd in the Wrexham Lager Club.
