Wrexham explosion safety firm launches new training centre

An ‘explosion risk reduction’ company has opened one of the UK’s most advanced training facilities of its kind in Wrexham.

ExVeritas has launched a new centre to develop its explosion safety training, which is run by more experienced and certified instructors than any other similar centre in the world.

The new facility is the latest landmark in a successful year for the company, which was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for international trade in June.

To mark the grand opening, Lord Lieutenant for Clwyd Mr Henry George Fetherstonhaugh OBE DL visited ExVeritas’ base to officially open the centre and present the award. He was given a preview of the state-of-the-art centre, which includes an electrical and mechanical assessment room, practice area, and a training room for tuition on working in hazardous areas.

The hub will allow ExVeritas to train its different types of skilled workers through practical tasks and assessments.

It will also accommodate specialist courses, which have already welcomed delegates from more than 30 countries, including Australia and Singapore, to the Wrexham headquarters.

ExVeritas technical director and co-founder Stephen D’Henin said: “The Queen’s Award is a reflection of how well our staff have worked, so it’s really their award.

“Everyone enjoyed the Lord Lieutenant’s visit, and we’re proud to have opened the centre with a royal mark of approval.

“The facility will deliver some of the best training available in the industry, which will in turn contribute to our growth in the UK, which we want to increase by 20 per cent.”

The Lord Lieutenant added: “Winning a Queen’s Award is a huge success for ExVeritas, a relatively young company doing exceptionally well.

“It was fantastic to meet the firm’s enthusiastic workforce, which includes personnel from Spain and Brazil, which goes to show how truly international it is.”

ExVeritas, which is an ATEX Notified Body and IECEx Certification Body, has grown 30 per cent year-on-year for eight consecutive years, and increased staff from 14 to 22 in the last 12 months.

It has opened offices in the USA, Singapore, and Denmark, as well as new training centres in Malta and Ireland.
