Wrexham Council has a reminder to pet owners that their dogs must be “kept on a lead at all times”.

The measures were introduced at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic to “reduce the chances of people having to get close to each other (for example, if two dogs start playing or fighting, and the owners have to get close to separate them.”

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “The vast majority of dog owners act responsibly and their dogs are kept on a lead at all times.

“Unfortunately there are some that are not doing this and we’re offering a polite reminder to please keep them on a lead. It’s for everyone’s safety and to prevent any risk of not social distancing if they do not come back to their owners when called.

“Please be responsible for your dog in order to prevent any incidents happening.”
