Wrexham Council consulting on free period products in schools and public facilities
Wrexham Council is consulting on its provision of free period products in schools and public facilities in the county borough.
The local authority provides the resources thanks to funding from the Welsh Government.
It has now launched a consultation on where / how the products are accessed and whether any improvements can be made.
There are two surveys, one for secondary school pupils and one for all residents. Both are completely confidential.
The consultation asks whether you are aware that free period products are available, where you would like to access the items – such as in libraries, foodbank, Info Shop or leisure centres – and the sort of products that you think should be provided.
The school survey will focus on the following key areas :-
- what is the current availability of sanitary products in schools?
- what do you think about the products that are available?
- have you ever had to miss any lessons/activities because of a lack of suitable products?
If you haven’t started your periods yet, you can still complete the survey questions about current availability and what you would like to see provided in the future.
A spokesperson for Wrexham Council said: “This is your opportunity to have your say on how provision in schools could be improved.
“For those not in school, if you need to access period products in your community, we would like to hear what you think about where they are available and what improvements could be made to the service.”
You can take part in the consultation on the YourVoiceWrexham website, here.
