Major refurbishment works at a sheltered housing scheme for people over 60 have been completed.

Llys y Mynydd in Rhos is the second sheltered housing scheme to be remodelled and refurbished by Wrexham Council.

The works included improving the size and accessibility of the apartments and remodelling to provide maximised space and comfort.

Triple glazed windows and air source heat pumps have also been installed to help provide warm and energy efficient homes for residents.

Along with previous contract holders of Llys y Mynydd, some new tenants have also been housed in the accomodation.

Councillor David A Bithell, Lead Member for Housing, said “The Sheltered Housing refurbishment is progressing well and we are pleased to have completed our second refurbishment. We have received positive feedback about the works from the new and returning contract holders.

“This is an exciting time for housing as we continue to progress with the next refurbishments in two other schemes which have been approved as part of our capital budget. We look forward to updating you on these.”

The next scheme to be refurbished is Maes y Capel in Coedpoeth. Demolition work has already begun and is being remodelled to provide a “contemporary, quality independent living scheme.”

Wrexham Council has also appointed Read Construction to carry out the refurbishment of our fourth scheme at Wisteria Court, Wrexham.

Previously Wisteria Court was a building that was built in the early 1980s, holding 26 apartments.

Wrexham Council says it aim to adapt this old building into a modern and welcoming environment. Work is expected to begin in late March.
