A local craft company and global brand have raised nearly £5,000 after tackling Snowdon in aid of a Wrexham-based hospice.

Ellison Europe, based on the Wrexham Industrial Estate, took on the challenge to help raise vital funds for Nightingale House Hospice.

With an initial target of £500, the team raised a whopping £4,936 – equating to nearly £4.55 per metre climbed!

Charity representative Ellison Europe, Angharad Stead said working with the hospice had been a “great opportunity to give back to our local community”.

“We really enjoyed fundraising for Nightingale House, it was great to take on a challenge for such a worthy cause,” continued Angharad.

“The climb was tough but we thoroughly enjoyed our team day out, and to top it off, we raised over £4,900 to support the amazing work Nightingale House do.”

Team Leader for Ellison Europe, Rebecca Jones added: “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the Nightingale House team on all our fundraising efforts; they have been a great support.

“It’s been good to see the team work together to raise so much money, especially the CEO Richard Birse who kindly offered to double the money we had raised.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Nightingale House again in the future, especially our next project working with Nightingale’s fantastic team of social workers on a crafting project for children and young adults.”

Fundraiser Luke McDonald said: “As many people know our hospice relies on the kind work and fundraising from our local community to enable specialist care and support to people that need it most.

“Ellison Europe has put a real emphasis on their community links by raising an unbelievable amount with this challenge.

“We really can’t thank them enough for their hard work and determination, we are all so glad to have such a strong relationship with another great business in Wrexham.”
