Wrexham Clothing Exchange is to kick off Eagles Meadow’s new pop-up space this Saturday.

The pop-up space is the shopping centre Management’s new initiative designed to support and help the local Wrexham community before a new tenant moves into the unit.

The new pop-up is situated between Clinton’s and the old Sports Direct retail unit at the shopping centre and will open its door for the first time this Saturday. Eagles Meadow’s management offered Wrexham Clothing Exchange the space to run one of their ‘Swop not Shop’ events a few weeks ago. This sustainable monthly event is where its visitors can pick up a ‘new wardrobe’ from other swappers’ preloved clothes and accessories. The aim is that the swappers can reduce their carbon footprint, reduce landfill, and save money during the current cost of living crisis.

Clothes swap lead volunteer, Sharon Rogers said about the venue, “We are absolutely honoured to have been given the opportunity to host the first event at the new Eagles Meadow pop-up space. The management team at Eagles Meadow has been more than helpful, and we are extremely grateful for them looking after us. The idea of a community pop-up space within Eagles Meadow is inspired and we wish the management team every success.”

“The old sports direct shop is perfect for our clothes swap, it will be the first time that we will have dedicated changing rooms and we have acres of space to utilise to display our clothes, shoes, and accessories. We will also be hosting our book exchange and our friends at Incredible Edible will be bringing along their free ‘give and take’ stall.”

Eagles Meadow manager, Josh Price said, “We’re very happy to be welcoming The Wrexham Clothing Exchange, its volunteers, and swappers to our new pop-up space. Sustainability is a huge priority for us moving forward and we hope we can contribute to their aims of saving between one and two tonnes of carbon. We are looking forward to working with them.”

The space next door to M&S will be open from 10 to 3 this Saturday (23rd July 2022.) Organisers say the clothing exchange is £3 entry but the book exchange and the ‘give and take’ stall will be free.

Sharon added: “As always, we recognise that times are hard in today’s climate. Please message us in strict confidence, if you need some clothing but can’t afford the door fee etc. We’re run by people from the community to support people in the community.”
