Local coffee roasters Wrexham Bean Co. have partnered with One Tree Planted to help drive its sustainability pledge of planting 1,000 trees by 2025.

For every 10kg of wholesale coffee sold to a single business, one tree is planted by the initiative’s partner organisations and community volunteers, in areas where deforestation has occurred.

To date, Wrexham Bean Co. – the city’s first local and eco-friendly coffee roasting company – has already planted 60 trees globally.

Rich Priamo, Co-Founder of Wrexham Bean Co. said: “Being genuinely sustainable and supporting the farming communities we work with are exactly what we stand for.

“We’ve always ethically sourced our coffee beans and used 100% recyclable packaging, but this partnership with One Tree Planted enables us to do so much more to help the environment.”

Family members Rich Priamo, 32, and James Roche (29) launched Wrexham Bean Co. in April 2023, and already have partnerships with cafes and retailers across North Wales and beyond, including Wrexham’s own Bank Street Social, The Lemon Tree and The Millstone Penyffordd.

Wrexham Bean Co. coffee bags are branded with unique designs of Wrexham landmarks including the iconic Hollywood Sign, The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and The Racecourse Ground.

Rich continued: “2023 has been a whirlwind for Wrexham Bean and partnering with One Tree Planted is the perfect end to the year.

“Now, it feels like we are really doing more to protect our planet, restore habitats and reduce the harmful effects of climate change.

“This is just the start of our sustainability journey and we’ve got lots more planned for the near future.”
