Wrexham has been the venue for a new World Record today, with the Largest Gathering of Evel Knievels ever recorded.

The record attempt took place as the RIDE Cymru team returned to Wrexham after an epic 1000+ mile trip around Wales. Starting at 9am from Holyhead the fifth day of the ride took in Beaumaris, Conwy, then across the top of the north wales coast including Llandudno and Rhyl before heading down through Flint and Broughton – and following the border exactly a trip to Holt before heading back into Wrexham itself.

In Wrexham the rules of a record attempt were followed, with the right outfits and positioning inside a pen taking place before two separate counters verified 68 Evels were inside a special pen.

The record itself is expected to be under challenge from an Evel Knievel event later this year in Butte, Montana in America, however for now Wrexham has the title.

The RIDE Cymru event raised in excess of £30,000 this year well above the hoped for target, meaning in excess of £88,000 has been raised for charity since the first RIDE Cymru event in 2012.

Event organiser Jason Lewis addressed the crowds after the record was set, you can view the arrival and his short speech below:
