Works on a large scale housing development in New Broughton are set to begin in the spring.

112 new homes will be built on the 4.82 hectare site, on Gatewen Road.

Housebuilder Bellway, which will undertake the development, confirmed that remediation works will start in the spring.

Outline planning permission on the land – which was previously owned by Wrexham University – was granted on appeal several years ago.

However the development was one of many put on hold while a review took place into phosphate levels across Wales.

But in July 2023 councillors granted permission to allow the works to go ahead after mitigations were put forward by the developer.

The new development will be known as Mountain View, due to the views of the mountains above Wrexham which can be seen from the site.

With work on site starting soon, Bellway will officially launch Mountain View in the summer, releasing for sale the first homes.

Once complete the development will consist of a mix of semi-detached and detached houses, with each property benefiting from a private rear garden as well as off road parking, whilst some will also have a garage.

Jenny Bell, sales director at Bellway, said: “It’s great to be back in Wrexham with a brand new residential development.

“We are due to start on site in Spring and hope to be well underway with construction in the coming months so that we can start selling from summer onwards.

“It’s a well located development with mountainous views, just a short drive from the centre of Wrexham and close to major A road offering easy access across North Wales and into the North West of England.”

In addition to the new development, Bellway has made financial contributions to the area – including £324,095 to education and a 25 per cent provision of affordable housing.
