Tonight Wetherspoons have released further details on the local incident, saying all employees from the pub now self isolating for 14 days from today.
Wetherspoons have also given further details on the timeline of events, stating a member of staff at the North and South Wales Bank tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday 13th August, having taken a test as a result of contact with someone outside of the pub who had shown symptoms of the virus.
Eleven employees who had been in close contact with their colleague were, as a result, asked to self-isolate.
Two of these employees tested positive on Tuesday 18th August while in isolation.
Wetherspoons said, “Following these positive tests, Wetherspoon is working closely with Wrexham County Borough Council , Public Health Wales and the Communicable Disease Control Service.
“In accordance with the advice from the above authorities , all employees from the pub are now self- isolating for 14 days from today.”
A team of Wetherspoon employees from other pubs in Wales have taken over the management of the pub for the interim period.”
“The employees who have tested positive have reported mild symptoms.”
Public Health Wales and Wrexham Council are advising anyone who visited the North and South Wales Bank pub in Wrexham between 9th and 20th August to be vigilant for the symptoms of Coronavirus.
This afternoon Public Health Wales has said if customers develop symptoms, however mild, they should immediately self-isolate and apply for a Coronavirus test by visiting www.gov.wales/coronavirus, or by calling the national 119 phone service.
Wetherspoons added, “Since reopening in Wales on 3rd August , Wetherspoon has implemented a number of social distancing measures in all pubs: tables have been spaced out, floor screens have been installed between tables, as well as “till surround screens” at the bar. Staff are conducting regular surface cleaning and, on average, 10 hand sanitisers have been installed in each pub, with additional units back of house for staff.”
“Wetherspoon is grateful for the cooperation and assistance of Wrexham County Borough Council, Public Health Wales and the Communicable Disease Control Service in this case.”
