Water supplies in thousands of homes across Wrexham have been restored after being off or affected for 15 hours.

Just before 8am Dee Valley Water updated their site to say: “The mains leak on Stansty Lane has been repaired. If you live in the Garden Village, Rhosddu, Llay, Cefn-y-Bedd, Abermorddu, Gwersyllt, Hope, Penymynydd area you may have discoloured water. Please run your cold kitchen tap until clear.”

Initially homes around the Chester Road area of Garden Village and parts of Acton were affected by issues with water supplies.

However throughout the evening residents in neighbouring villages began to report issues, with places such as Gwersyllt, Rhosrobin, Llay, Rhosddu and Little Acton experiencing low water pressure or no water whatsoever.

Eventually Dee Valley Water updated their map to show that homes across the county and even part of Flintshire / Cheshire were covered as part of the fault.

“The main leak has been located on Lloyds Lane, near Leisure Centre. Our engineers currently are working on the repair, which should take 2-3 hours. Due to disruption you may experience discoloured water, please run your cold kitchen tap till clear. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
