Volunteers needed to deliver NSPCC’s ‘Speak Out Stay Safe’ programme in North Wales
A leading children’s charity is looking for volunteers in North Wales to help deliver vital child safeguarding messaging to local schoolchildren.
The NSPCC’s ‘Speak Out Stay Safe’ programme uses uses age-appropriate language and workshops – with its friendly mascot Buddy – to help children aged 5 to 11 understand how to recognise abuse in all its forms.
Last year volunteers in Mid and West Wales delivered Speak Out Stay Safe to 7,024 children in 49 schools.
Across Wales Speak Out Stay Safe was delivered to 29,517 children in 180 schools.
However volunteers in North Wales are needed to help reach every child in every classroom across Wales.
Rhian Jones, Wales Schools Services Manager said: “Our Schools Service feels like being part of a family, with volunteers meeting like-minded people and delivering workshops to help children understand that it is never their fault if they experience abuse, that they have the right to be safe, and how to get help from safe adults and the NSPCC’s Childline service.”
Volunteers receive full training and support and are only asked to visit two schools a month, but they can make a real difference to children’s lives.
