Updated: Road closures in place as heavy rain causes travel disruption across Wrexham
Heavy rainfall caused by Storm Babet has resulted in localised flooding and road closures across Wrexham.
A weather warning from the Met Office remains in place until Saturday morning, with persistent rain forecast throughout the rest of the day.
Cefn Road was closed this morning due to surface water, with Wrexham Council stating that there are always issues on Rosemary Lane in Burton.
A spokesperson for Wrexham Council said: “Please bear with us this morning as we try to complete scheduled bin collections, and please take care if you’re out and about driving.”
Residents in the Bradley Road area woke up this morning to find water levels rising above doorsteps and entering into homes.

Councillor Hugh Jones, Wrexham Council’s Lead Member for Environment, said: “I want to express my appreciation to the staff of the Environment Department who have responded to the numerous calls from residents to deal with flooding.
“Roads have been closed and sand bags deployed in an attempt to minimise the impact of the storm.
“I am also grateful for the understanding and patience of residents recognising that we are responding at a time of a drastically reduced workforce due to industrial action.
“A number of staff have returned from leave in response to the call and their commitment is greatly appreciated.”
Plas Madoc recycling centre has also closed due to flooding.
Although sites at Bryn Lane and the Lodge remain open, road conditions throughout the county remain difficult due to surface water and flooding so please take extra care when driving.

⚠️Lots of surface water on the roads this morning – check your journey beforehand and modify your driving to account for the conditions. Do not enter flood water. It’s best to wait in your car and call for help you do get stuck in water. #takeextracare pic.twitter.com/twRaHGYpRd
