Two new ‘Lead Members’ of Wrexham Council have been appointed.

In a report due to go before the Executive Board on Tuesday, it states that Councillor Dana Davies (Cllr for Ruabon) has been appointed Lead Member for Health and Adult Social Care; while Councillor Ian Roberts (Councillor for Chirk North) is the new Lead Member for Environment.

The two appointments will come as little surprise to a lot of people, with the names being mooted on social media for the past few weeks.

Other than Cllr Davies and Cllr Roberts the line-up of Lead Members remains the same as the past year. A full breakdown of the councillors and their roles is listed below.

Economic Development & Regeneration – Councillor Neil Rogers
Children’s Services & Education – Councillor Michael Williams

Cllr Davies replaces Councillor David Griffiths, who resigned from his role as Lead Member at last month’s Executive Board meeting. Within the minutes of last month’s meeting it states

Cllr Griffiths will continue to serve as councillor for Gwersyllt East and South.

Within the report a the role of Adult and Social Care is divided into three sections; Health, Adult Social Care and Major Plans and Strategies.

The three sections cover a broad range of areas including leisure, mental health, welfare rights, social care assessments; public protection, health and safety and the Health and Well Being Strategy.

Cllr Roberts will take over the role as Lead Member for Environment from Councillor Bob Dutton, who will continue to serve as Councillor for the Erddig Ward.

The report contains a large list of ‘main areas of responsilities’, including: winter maintenance, street cleaning, road safety, traffic management; parking services and recycling.

Both Cllr Davies and Cllr Roberts will make their first meeting appearance as Lead Members at Tuesday’s Executive Board meeting.
