Trials held for first Wrexham’s County Football Schoolgirls team

The first Wrexham County Football Schoolgirls teams for secondary school students in the area has launched.

Trials for the U13 and U15 teams recently took place at Ysgol Morgan Llwyd and those successful will make history when they represent Wrexham for the first time – putting themselves against the best of the rest of Wales in the Welsh Schools FA Competition.

The U13 group has been sponsored by Commonwood Fishery, with sponsorship opportunities also available for the U15 side.

Marc Francis, fishery manager, said: “Commonwood Fishery were very happy to be given the chance to sponsor the Wrexham School Girls football team.

“We believe in backing local community and grass root projects, this was a perfect opportunity to give something back and get behind our County school girls team.

“Here at the fishery we are committed to supporting local schools and colleges by offering our fishery and facilities to them to engage their pupils in the sport of fishing and industry of fishery management.

“We look forward to seeing how well this young group of talented girls get on and wish them the best of luck.”

Rebecca Suckley, club secretary, added: “This is a massive opportunity for all girls attending Wrexham high schools and who enjoy football, they are able to make new friends and it is good for there health and well-being.”
