Firefighters attended to trees believed to be deliberately set alight just off First Avenue in Gwersyllt last night.

The picture above was sent to Wrexham.com of last nights fire by Karla-Beth who said: “Some people stoop low to entertain themselves. Setting fire to other peoples property is vile.”

We are told that there have been several instances of fires in the area over the last few days with trees and fences set alight, with another telling us smoke had been seen by trees in nearby Moss Valley.

UPDATE: North Wales Fire Service have said: “We were called to trees believed to be deliberately set alight in Gwersyllt, Wrexham during the strike period last night, and received numerous calls into the control room concerning the fire.

“Please remember firefighters are on strike daily 12pm – 2pm and 11pm – 12am until Saturday 16th August – our services are limited and we need your help to ensure public safety .”

Further to the incident Alys got in touch to say: “Two bins set on fire in Gwersyllt over the past few days, Wheatsheaf Lane/First Avenue area.

“So much for the security cameras by the shop!”
