A Wrexham primary school has received £500 funding from a local home builder for new forest school resources.

Park Community Primary, in Llay, were awarded the funds by Anwyl Homes, who are building close to the school at the Maes-y-Rhedyn development, off Straight Mile Road.

Head teacher Rebecca Billington said: “We’re working on several improvements to our school’s outdoor learning areas.

“Expanding the resources and tools on offer in our forest school is one of the ways we’re helping children to build practical skills and learn about nature.

“Anwyl’s generous donation has been used to buy gardening and woodwork tools, and the children have already been making great use of these.

“We use the forest school all year round, and even more so though the summer months, when being outdoors can really help boost learning.”

Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “We’re really pleased to support Park Community Primary enhance their forest school provision.

“The school has created a brilliant place for children to gain a greater understanding of wildlife and build on their practical skills, like woodwork and upcycling.”
