Students from Yale College and around North Wales gathered for the very first Travel and Tourism Student Conference earlier today on Yale’s Grove Park Campus.

They heard from industry professionals before breaking into a series of workshops to gain a further insight into several aspects of the tourism industry including marketing and crisis management. Later on they looked more closely at employment prospects, working overseas and routes to developing their own career progression.

Rona Griffiths, Travel & Tourism Lecturer at Yale College organised the day’s events and was encouraged by the results:-

“We are delighted with success of the event which has truly lived up to expectations as an invaluable experience to Level 3 Travel and Tourism learners.”

College Principal Jasbir Dhesi had opened the event for students and introduced keynote speakers who gave an overview of the challenges and opportunities faced in the North Wales travel economy. This is of particular relevance at a time where Visit Wales are funding a number of Destination Management projects around the country, aimed at improving signposting for visitors and uniting tourism-related businesses in each town.
