A new town centre takeaway with a healthy twist will celebrate its grand opening this morning.

Skinny’s Health Food, which opens the doors of its new home on Henblas Street at 11:30am (Monday 16 January), aims to bring food made with love – but with a healthy edge to the streets of Wrexham.

The concept behind Skinny’s was created up by a group of friends who wanted to expand the food offering in the town centre; including Katie Tilsley, a personal trainer who has recently returned from Australia and chef, Skinny – who has a farming background and a love for food.

The menu (which can be eaten in or taken out) allows customers to build their own box – choosing their protein (selection of meats, prawns halloumi and tofu), their base (sweet potato mash, brown rice or bulgur rice) and finished off with a selection of vegetables and sauces.

A breakfast menu, smoothies, hot drinks and ‘skinny specials’ are also available to try.

For those with a sweet tooth there’s healthy alternatives available on the ‘Skinny Desserts’ menu, which features protein brownies, protein balls and protein waffles with a choice of toppings.

Skinny’s is also ‘pooch friendly’, with well behaved dogs welcome to sit inside while you eat.

Since details of the new takeaway were announced on Facebook at the end of 2016, Skinny’s Healthy Food has amassed over 3,600 likes – with its owners saying they are ‘blown away’ by the response.

Skinny’s Health Food opens at 11:30am on Monday 16 January. The eatery will be open 11:30am – 8pm everyday of the week other than Sunday.

More information and pictures of the Skinny’s Health Food menu can be found on Facebook.
