Two roads are closed in town this afternoon, and limited access from others due to Storm Franklin.

In an update shared to Wrexham.com by Wrexham Council’s Lead Member Environment, Cllr David A Bithell, said, “We are dealing with some minor issues today in Wrexham Town Centre, Abbot Street and Brook Street in Wrexham are closed there is limited access to High Street due to debris from a roof. Access to St Giles church remains unaffected.”

Cllr Bithell also shared the council’s currently weather forecasting, “Current forecasts for Sunday are lower than previously thought with winds to remain below closure threshold level throughout the day. Winds are expected to increase in the early hours of Monday with closure threshold anticipated to be reached around between 01:30. Based on current forecasts a Full Closure of both the A5 and A483 Viaducts will be implemented between 01:30 and 10:00.”

“Wintery showers are predicted later today and our crews are gritting high routes only.”

Council officers “continue to monitor the weather and are liaising with a number of agencies”.

On the railways due to heavy rain “flooding the railway at Gobowen” means some lines are blocked. Trains running between Shrewsbury and Wrexham General may be cancelled or delayed.
