The annual Play Day event in the town centre is still going ahead this afternoon despite the heavy rain this morning.

Over the morning several people have been in touch asking if / rumours circulating online that the popular free event has been cancelled due to bad weather.

Met Office forecast is currently showing that the rain is due to stop around midday and the remainder of the afternoon will be dry, with temperatures even hitting 20C mid afternoon.

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council confirmed the event is still going ahead today and that a maze and tippees are now in place on Llwyn Isaf for this afternoon’s event.

Play Day will begin at midday and take place until 4pm – with plenty of children’s activities for children of all ages taking place across Queens Square and Llwyn Isaf.

There’s also free parking in all council-owned car parks (not private car parks) for the entire day.
