Crowds gathered in the city centre this morning cheer on the cyclists in the Tour of Britain.

The teams set off from Chester Street at 11:45am to hundreds who had turned out to wave them off on their journey across Wrexham County Borough and trip through Cheshire.

Prior to the race starting fans were introduced to each of the teams on the main stage, which will also play host to the winner later on today.

Throughout Wrexham crowds have been lining the streets to cheer on the competitors, who will arrive back in Wrexham City Centre for around 2:20pm

Big screens have been placed on Llwyn Isaf for visitors to watch the race, which is being broadcast live on ITV4.

Also on Llwyn Isaf is a fans’ village, with stalls from Bank Street Coffee, Freedom Leisure, North Wales Police and cycling brands.
