Theatretrain students amaze the crowd during Royal Albert Hall performance
Fifty performing arts students from Theatretrain in Chester have taken to the stage at The Royal Albert Hall in London.
The youngsters, aged between six and 16, performed on the world famous stage on September 17.
Theatretrain Chester is part of an 80-strong network of companies across the UK providing theatre training for young people.
“We’re Gonna Change The World” was Theatretrain’s 100th large-scale production (their 12th at the iconic Royal Albert Hall).
Now in it’s 24th year in Chester, Theatretrain gives young people the space to learn key theatre skills in dance, singing and acting.
Steve Davies, artistic director said: “We were all so excited to be a part of this!
:It was a fantastic opportunity for our students and really was a show like no other.
“They performed a huge range of roles and took part in an incredible variety of acts, varying from Percy Faith’s “Theme from a Summer Place” to David Guetta’s “Titanium”!
“There was also “Happy Together” by the Turtles mixed in with “Beautiful” by Christina Aguliera, so it was a pretty eclectic mix.”
Theatretrain’s approach ensured a crossover between singing, dancing and acting.
It also meant a large orchestra, a massive 800-strong choir and a powerful story told in the arena.
Prior to their London trip the children welcomed Sam Dixon, MP for City of Chester to their final rehearsal.
Sam praised the exceptional talent on display and said that she was honoured to see a sneak peak of rehearsals, and left by saying ‘break a leg’.
The group now returns to their Queen’s Park High School base where they will continue with their regular classes on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.
