A local landmark will turn green later this month in support for the NSPCC’s Walk for Children.

The Stiwt Theatre, in the heart of Rhosllannerchrugog, has thrown its support behind the campaign, which aims to raise awareness and vital funds for the charity’s crucial Childline service.

On December 22, the longest night of the year, The Stiwt will join other landmarks – including the Harbour Bridge and Sky Tower in Rhyl, Newport Civic Centre, and Pontypool Civic Centre in Torfaen – by turning green in support of the NSPCC’s mission to be a lifeline for children during the holiday season.

As a beacon of community engagement, the Stiwt Theatre has long demonstrated its commitment to the well-being and enjoyment of children.

This festive season, the theatre is set to entertain 3,300 pupils from 18 primary schools with eight 10:00 am performances of the classic Snow White pantomime.

In addition to the school performances, the Stiwt Theatre is extending its festive cheer to adults and families with 36 shows of the Snow White pantomime, ensuring that the season’s magic is shared with audiences of all ages.

Emma Brennan, Supporter Fundraising Manager at NSPCC Cymru, said: “Our Childline service is expecting a child to contact them every 45 seconds this Christmas, and your support can help Childline answer more life-changing calls.

“By lighting up in green, the Stiwt Theatre is brightening the skyline and illuminating hope for children in need during their darkest hours.”

The Stiwt Theatre is also encouraging the community to participate in the NSPCC’s Walk for Children on December 22.

This collective effort allows families and friends to come together and walk 5km, raising vital funds for the Childline service; for those unable to walk, donating is a meaningful way to support the NSPCC’s essential services during this busy time.
