A former doctor’s surgery in Wrexham could be converted into flats if planning proposals are given the go ahead.

In an application submitted to Wrexham Council it has been proposed that a former doctor’s surgery on Ruabon Road, Wrexham, is converted into four self contained studio flats.

The building had previously been used as Beechley Medical Centre, which relocated to a new premises at the end of 2015.

However if the planning proposals are accepted, the building will be converted into four bedsits / studio apartments – with three of the flats consisting of one bedroom and the fourth consisting of two.

Details about the building are provided within the application’s Design and Access Statement, which reads: “The property is located within the residential and conservation area of Fairy Road in Wrexham and surrounded by housing.

“The planning application is for a change of use from the previous doctor’s surgery use to residential accomodation with four self contained bedsit / studio flats. The site is a semi-detached corner property between Fairy Road and Ruabon Road with a small front garden area and small hardstanding back yard.”

The proposals contain few alterations to the exterior of the property, including changing the rear door to a window to match the existing opening.

Given the location of the property and existing space no on-site parking will be provided.

The application is expected to go before Wrexham’s Planning Committee at a later date.
