Part of Ty Pawb is having yet another review a meeting has been told, after a councillor asked about budget pressures of the council run centre.

Cllr Dana Davies referenced a report before councillors that stated, “Ty Pawb is forecast to have a budget pressure of £282k as a result of lower than budgeted for income levels along with increased energy costs (£144k).”

Citing that line Cllr Davies asked, “My question relates to Ty Pawb, we were expecting a scrutiny report on the Ty Pawb budget and I just wanted some information around that £282,000 pressure.

“Not all of that is related to income, and we know a lot of what is put on in Ty Pawb is grant funded. Can you tell me if that is staffing, cost pressures, you know… what more is in that £282k? As potentially, we may need to look at structures there to make Ty Pawb viable”.

Cllr Hugh Jones told the meeting, “In terms of the specific question that Councillor Davies asked around Ty Pawb, in turn in terms of structures, we are reviewing those structures.

“As a result, we’ve made a temporary appointment into one of the significant roles in Ty Pawb, as members will know, we have a new Advisory Board, we’ll be working with that new Advisory Board as well.

“So the straight answer to the question is, yes, the structures are under review.”

Cllr Davies referred to a report ‘expected’ in the scrutiny process, believed to be the Employment, Business and Investment Scrutiny Committee. Wrexham.com have been told that a report was due at the meeting last Wednesday however it did not appear, much to the annoyance of some councillors and officers, with the item now bumped into the new year.
