Organisers of the iconic fund raising charity walk this month are hoping the event’s proceeds over 13 years of holding it will top £1million.

For the past 13 years, thousands of people have taken part in the popular 6k or 10k walk through the streets of Wrexham raising valuable funds for the Hospice.

Brother Industries of Ruabon are helping to boost the amount raised by sponsoring the tee shirts for the last ever Midnight Walk in aid of Nightingale House Hospice on 15th June. The company has supported the Hospice for many years and has donated over £19,000 since 2007.

Hospice Corporate Partnerships Manager Debbie Barton said: “We would like to thank Brother Industries for their ongoing support of Nightingale House and for sponsoring this year’s tee shirts. We are just £28,000 short of raising £1million from this event over 13 years so we are hopeful we will smash that target this time.”

Amanda Kinsey, Senior Events Fundraiser for Nightingale House said: “As with all good things they must, at some point, come to an end. As a hospice we need to find new ways to increase the income raised from long standing events so in 2019 this will be the case for The Midnight Walk. All is not lost though as we have some good news; we will be announcing the exciting new event to replace the Midnight Walk for 2020 on the evening of this year’s event.

“We hope people will join us for the final ever one and give the event a good ‘send off’. Everyone is welcome, so bring your friends, family and colleagues to celebrate the success and finale of one of our longest running events in Wrexham.”

The event starts at 8pm on June 15th on the Llwyn Isaf green next to Wrexham Guildhall, with the walk itself commencing at 10.30pm.

There will be live entertainment from Rhythm Train and motivational coach Dewi Jones will make sure participants are warmed up and ready for the walk ahead.

Walkers will receive a souvenir Midnight Walk tee shirt and will be greeted with a cup of tea or coffee and a Village Bakery sausage roll as they cross the finish line.

Jacquie Cumming, HR and CSR Assistant Manager, Brother Industries said: “The Midnight Walk tee shirts have become something of a collectors’ item and we are delighted to be sponsoring them this year. The tee shirt colour this year is a lovely shade of blue. As a company we are proud to be associated with the Hospice and are pleased we are able to make a contribution to this last ever event which has been so successful and well supported.”

There is still time to sign up. To join in visit www.nightingalehouse.co.uk/event/the-midnight-walk or call the Fundraising Team on 01978 314292.
