Section of A483 to close due to forecast strong winds
A section of the A483 will close this afternoon due to the forecast high winds.
A yellow weather warning remains in place until 1pm on Wednesday 24 January with Storm Jocelyn set to bring gusts of up to 55mph locally.
Traffic Wales have confirmed that due to the forecast bad weather the A483 from Junction 1 to the A5 Gledrid Roundabout will close at 3:45pm through until 7:15pm.
A diversion will be in place via the A539, A5 Llangollen and B5070.
Posting on X Traffic Wales said: “The A483 will close tonight from J1 to A5 Gledrid Roundabout 15:45-19:15.
“This is due to forecasted high winds of Storm Jocelyn impacting Dee & Ceiriog viaducts Diversion via A539, A5 Llangollen and B5070 due to the B5605 landslip the diversion is longer.
“Agreed mitigation measures have been placed on the diversion route which include traffic signals and restrictions for safety.
“Please allow extra time & follow all signs.”

Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Steve Willington, said: “Although this system will be a step down relative to Storm Isha, with the damage and clean up still underway, we could potentially see more impacts from Storm Jocelyn.
“Outbreaks of heavy rain on Tuesday could bring rainfall accumulations of 15 to 20 mm quite widely with 40 to 50 mm over higher ground in southwest Scotland, the Scottish Highlands and parts of northwest England.
“Wind gusts are expected to reach 55 to 65 mph across northwestern Scotland while there is potential for winds to gust to 75 to 80 mph in a few places, in particular exposed parts of the Western Isles and coastal northwest Scotland early on Wednesday morning.”
