Wrexham town centre will be full of seasonal cheer tomorrow with the return of the ever successful Victorian Christmas Market.

Set across the grounds of St Giles Church, the festive market is one of Wrexham’s most popular and well-attended calendar events. For the first time the High Street will also be used to expand the market – with children’s fairground rides available to enjoy throughout the day.

Starting at midday on Thursday 8 December and lasting until 8pm, the event will showcase over 75 stalls selling everything from festive goodies, homemade food, unique crafts and much more.

Last year the market attracted 15,000 visitors throughout throughout the day and evening. To accommodate that amount of visitors safely and comfortably this year the decision has been taken to close High Street for the event.

This decision will impact on six disabled parking spaces on Town Hill for the day which will be moved to the Guildhall staff car parking area.

Cllr Neil Rogers, Lead Member for Economy and Regeneration, said: “The Victorian Market is the most successful visitor attraction on our annual event Calendar and this year we have had to take a very close look at how we can continue to accommodate the visitor numbers expected.

“We have to ensure the area is safe and visitor friendly and to move some attractions onto High Street is the safest way forward.

“We know users of the six disabled spaces will be inconvenienced whilst the Market is on but we are able to offer alternate parking arrangements to replace those six disabled parking bays lost for the day and we ask them to bear with us whilst we accommodate this very successful visitor attraction.”

The market opens at 12.00 noon and will continue throughout the day and evening until 8.00 pm.

There will be festive gifts and fare for the whole family and free parking in all council owned town centre parks (check time restrictions on the car park ticket machines for further information)
