A well-known sandwich shop is to take over the running of a vacant town centre shop – with the company opening their third shop in the town.

‘Subway’ is to take over the running of 48 Regent Street, in between Game and Wetherspoons.

The occupant of the Regent Street store has been revealed via a planning application submitted to Wrexham Council – with Olympic Sign Services submitting an application to put new signage up for ‘Subway’ on the unit.

The sandwich shop opened its first branch in UK back in 1996 and has since expanded its operations across Europe. In the UK and Ireland there are more than 2,300 Subway stores, employing over 23,000 people.

More recently the company celebrated the opening of its 5000th store.

Up until recently the unit had been occupied by the Dynamic charity store – who recently held a closing down sale and are in the process of relocating.

However with the arrival of Subway, that side of Regent Street will go back to being at full occupancy.

The new store will be the third of its kind in Wrexham Town Centre – with Subway occupying a unit on the High Street and on St George’s Crescent.

An opening date for Wrexham’s new Subway or the number of jobs that could be created has yet to be confirmed.
