Funds raised by the sale of two former youth clubs in Wrexham could be used to demolish a property in Penycae.

In proposals due to go before the Executive Board tomorrow afternoon it is recommended that the Capital reciepts generated by the demolition of former youth clubs in Gresford and Pentre Broughton are put towards the demolition of Penycae Centre.

Last week Wrexham.com reported that Allington Hall (Gresford) and Pentre Broughton Youth Club have been listed as ‘For Sale’, with the two properties due to go to auction in Manchester later this month.

Both the properties in Gresford and Pentre Broughton are to be sold on the open market as a result of a decision ratified at Executive Board on 12th October 2012 to reshape the Youth and Play Service. In addition to this, Minera Youth Club has been removed and Penycae Youth Club is due to be demolished

The former Gresford Youth Club on Vicarage Lane in Gresford is being sold off by Wrexham Council for around £150,000, with the Pentre Broughton Youth Club expected to sell for around £75,000.

It is proposed that funds raised from the sale of both youth clubs are used to demolish Penycae Youth Centre. Currently ‘detailed surveys’ are being undertaken to establish the costs.

The Executive Board report states: “Agreement was provided at the Executive Board of 12th October 2012 to deliver a new Youth and Play Service model in order to reach greater numbers of children and young people and to achieve a saving of £93k.

The proposals (viewed here in full) will go before the Council’s Executive Board on Tuesday at 2pm.
