Rugby League World Cup 2013 fever gripped Wrexham this week with fans searching high and low for the chance to win tickets to the tournament.

To mark the 100 day countdown to Wrexham’s first RLWC2013 games, specially-branded RLWC2013 balls will were hidden around the country borough.

Those hiding the balls, which included North Wales Crusaders and Wrexham’s RLWC2013 ambassador Jacqui Walker, used clues about where their ball was hidden on Twitter including the hashtag #findourballs .

The first lucky finder was Glyndwr University student Dan Stevens, who successfully won tickets to one of Wrexham’s RLWC2013 matches by finding a ball at the Odeon cinema.

Dan said: “Me and my girlfriend had a great day searching for the ball using the clues . We spent about 3 hours following the clues and ended up finding the ball in the Odeon.

“It was great fun and now we’re both looking forward to watching the Rugby League World Cup 2013 here in Wrexham.”

The second ball was a little further afield, with North Wales Crusaders fans Paul and Adam Maggs trekking all the way to Holt to hunt down the bright orange ball.

Now just one more ball remains, which will be hidden today at a secret location to mark the Rugby League World Cup trophy’s arrival in Wrexham.

Clues will be posted throughout the week @Wrexhamcbc & @Wrexham2013 and using the hashtag #findourballs.
