There will be celebrations throughout the town centre tomorrow with hundreds set to take to the streets for this year’s St David’s Day parade.

The popular event, organised in association with Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam and Wrexham Council draws huge crowds each year.

Along with the annual parade, celebrations in town will start on Friday morning with Welsh stalls and activities in Tŷ Pawb.

At 12:45pm the parade and those who wish to take part in it will assemble outside the Guildhall, before being led through the town by the Cambria Band at 1pm.

The parade will then make its way to Queens Square, Lord Street, Egerton Street, Regent Street, Hope Street, High Street, Chester Street.

It will finish at Tŷ Pawb where there will the chance to take part in a rendition of Calon Lân and the Welsh National Anthem.

Gill Stephen, chief officer of Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam, said: “There is a warm welcome for people of all ages to join in the fun again this year, whether they are Welsh speakers or not.

“This extremely popular event is an opportunity for everyone in Wrexham to celebrate the Welsh identity of the town.”

Cllr Andy Williams, Mayor of Wrexham added: “The annual St David’s Day Parade has always proven a very popular event in the heart of Wrexham and we don’t expect this year’s celebrations to be an exception.

“I’d like to thank Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam and officers at Wrexham Council for the work they put into this event, and extend a warm welcome to anyone who wishes to take part.”

Last year saw hundreds of people brave the ‘Beast from the East’ to take part in the parade.

However tomorrow’s forecast is looking drier and cloudier, with highs of 11C – so be sure to pop down and join in with the fun!
