A main road in Wrexham was closed for several hours today after a lorry became stuck at a low bridge.

The B5373 Gresford Hill was closed throughout this morning and the early part of the afternoon as a result of the incident. North Wales Police Control Room tweeted shortly after 8am alerting people of the incident, adding that traffic was already backing up and to avoid the route if possible.

As a result of the incident the entire road was closed by 9am and a recovery vehicle was sent to the scene.

Many in Wrexham will be aware of the number of similar incidents that have taken place at the bridge over the past few years. This morning Lisa Bell tweeted to say this morning: “Another Sat Nav fail”, while Kieron added: “Yet again Griffin hill, Gresford blocked by a lorry. Isn’t it time @wrexhamcbc signposted it more clearly?”

The road has now reopened.
