Ribbon cut as Contact Wrexham officially makes ‘vibrant and welcoming’ Library its new permanent home

Contact Wrexham’s new home in the Library in Wrexham city centre has been officially opened by the Mayor.

The ‘Contact Wrexham’ service first moved from its previous address on Lord Street to the Guildhall whilst works were completed at the Library, which have now been completed and is open to the public. The service has been operational from the Library for two weeks, but yesterday saw the Mayor Brian Cameron and Cllr Beverley Parry Jones, Lead Member for corporate services, conduct a formal opening ceremony.

The Mayor said, “We’re here to mark a new chapter in the Contact Centre story, as we gather to celebrate the opening of the new site and service.

“The work that goes on in this team is crucial. It’s a frontline service for the people of Wrexham. For some people, it’s more than that, for some people, it’s a lifeline.

“I want to thank you all for everything you do for the people of our city on a daily basis it does not go unnoticed, and we
greatly appreciate it.

“Your new environment looks wonderful, it’s a vibrant and welcoming space for everyone.

“We are safe in the knowledge the hardwork will undoubtedly continue to the high standard we see each day.”

Cllr Parry Jones said, “I am extremely proud to be here today as Lead Member for corporate services for Wrexham County Borough Council. I would like to thank everyone who’s been involved in this project from its inception.

“Contact Wrexham is an excellent facility which also provides a bespoke self service area as well as highly trained staff who are on hand to deal with queries and to assist our customers navigate self serve screens.

“If you are struggling with IT skills or need support, then this is definitely the place to come to to take your skills to the next level. I was going to book a slot and come in tomorrow but I’ve actually done that today so I can speak from firsthand experience as to how good staff are.

“Without further ado, I am honoured to officially open Contact Centre Wrexham and may it go from strength to strength!”

Many of the services offered are available online 24 hours a day via the Council’s website which they say remains the quickest and easiest way to access lots of services.

At the new location, staff will be available to help you navigate the council’s self-service screens as well as offering face to face appointments for a number of services, which include:

Blue Badges
Council Tax
Housing Benefits
Planning
Transport

Customers will still receive a drop in service for support with

Adult Social Care
Digital Service support
Education
General Enquiries

The opening times for Contact Wrexham are as follows

Monday 9am – 4.30pm

Tuesday 10am – 4.30pm

Wednesday 9am – 4.30pm

Thursday 9am – 4.30pm

Friday 9am – 4.30pm

Previously Council Leader Mark Pritchard said: “We have invested in bringing Contact Wrexham to a central location, ensuring that this very important service is easily accessible and in a location where other services are also available.

The library location is in close proximity to the Library Car Park making it accessible to people with mobility issues, as well as being free parking to blue badge holders

“We expect that this move will improve our overall face to face services to the community.
