Resurfacing works on a well-known ‘accident hotspot’ in Wrexham is underway, with proposals
to also tackle speeding in the area.

The road surface repairs on Heritage Way, near the Brymbo Cricket Club are taking place following a number of collisions in the area.

Over recent months several crashes have taken place on the stretch of road, resulting in calls from local residents and councillors for more to be done to prevent such incidents happening.

More recently a vehicle was left with significant damage following a crash outside the Brymbo Cricket Club.

Earlier this year it was announced that £40,500 of ‘accident reduction funding’ had been secured for the the B5101 – along with a section of the Brymbo Link Road now known has Heritage Way.

At the time it was announced that the funding was to be spent on improving signage in the area and surface treatments at various locations.

Councillor for the Brymbo ward, Paul Rogers said he has received an email from Road Safety Officers confirming that resurfacing works on Heritage Way will commence today (Monday 10 October).

Cllr Rogers added: “I am advised this road has been awarded funding due to the volume of recent accidents.

“Each accident has its own circumstances and therefore plans have now been drawn up in relation to better use the small amount of accident reduction funding secured earlier this year.

“I will be discussing proposals with officers next week.”
