Hundreds of people in Wrexham gathered to pay their respects this morning to the men and women who have given their lives serving their country in today’s Remembrance service.

The Annual Service of Remembrance took place at the Royal Welch Fusiliers Memorial, Bodhyfryd. At 11am the Last Post sounded and a two minutes silence was observed.

A parade also passed through the town with members of armed forces and various representatives of groups attending. The parade marched through Chester Street, Holt Street and Chester Road.

This year’s event also represents the last public appearance of the Wrexham based Royal Welsh Batallion, who after a 200 year affiliation with the county is disbanding.

Tomorrow there will also be an Armistice Day Ceremony which will include a two minute silence at 11.00 am. Members of the Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps, Veterans Groups will gather at Queens Square from 10.45 am. The Mayor will give an address at 10.57 followed by the Exhortation. A Bugler will sound the Last Post at 10.59 followed by the two minute silence.

The air raid siren will be heard in the town centre for the marking of the two minute silence.
