Refurbishment works at a sheltered housing scheme in Rhos are well underway.

Llys y Mynydd, Rhos is the second sheltered housing scheme to be remodelled and refurbished by Wrexham Council.

Works include improving the size and accessibility of the apartments by incorporating bays which have metal standing seam cladding, and remodelling three small apartments to make two larger ones.

The properties have large triple-glazed windows, internal wall insulation and air source heat pumps installed.

Works at Llys y Mynydd is on target are on track to be completed by the end of November.

It is the second sheltered housing scheme in Wrexham to undergo refurbishment, with tenants already moved into Tir y Capel in Llay.

Tenants who originally moved from Llys y Mynydd are looking forward to moving into their newly refurbished homes, hopefully in early January.

Councillor David Bithell, Lead Member for Housing, said: “Sheltered housing plays a key role in our communities, providing safe and comfortable homes for elderly residents and other tenants who need a little bit of support.

“It’s really pleasing that Llys y Mynydd is near completion.

“This project has been redeveloped as part of this year’s capital programme and will allow for contract holders to a live in modernised sheltered accommodation.

“We’re committed to investing in our sheltered housing stock, and the refurbishment work at Llys y Mynydd and Tir y Capel will provide warm, energy-efficient and comfortable homes.”
