A discount retailer in the heart of Wrexham town centre has announced that it will close later this spring.

QD Stores say that its branch on Hope Street will shut its doors for good in May, with staff told the news on Friday.

The company has cited a decline of footfall in the town centre as one of the reasons for its closure.

QD has operated in Wrexham for the past 10 years after filling the former M&S unit.

It is one of several stores in the area to have left Wrexham over the past 12 months, with Ernest Jones next door, Card Market also closing.
