Public conveniences at Henblas Street and the Wrexham bus station are now open for shoppers and visitors.

Yesterday saw non-essential retail and the remainder of close contact services reopen for the first time since December 2020.

Many shops, including Debenhams, Primark and Asda Living, saw large queues in the morning as shoppers returned to the high street.

Parking is also free in council car parks only – excluding Ty Pawb – after 11am. Usual time restrictions remain in place.

As part of this week’s changes to the lockdown restrictions all children also returned to face to face education – along with all post-16 learners – yesterday.

Again this is the first time that many have received face-to-face teaching since before Christmas.

In addition, restrictions on travelling in and out of Wales were lifted yesterday.

Although Wales is starting to move from a level four lockdown and into a level three, Wrexham Council is urging people to continue following the restrictions.

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council said: “It’s what we all hope is the beginning of a return to our normal lives but please remember that’s it’s more important than ever to remain safe.

“Please remember to stay two metres from others, wear a mask when in shops, wash hands using soap and water or hand sanitiser and get plenty of fresh air.

“Traders are ready to welcome you all back including everyone in the Beast Market, General Market, Butchers Market and Tŷ Pawb so please pay them a visit, stay safe and enjoy the new freedoms we have been given.

“Don’t forget car parking is free in all council run town centre parks after 11am except Tŷ Pawb where normal charges apply.”
